I am İ.E. Pardalos, a self-taught Turkish artist working primarily with reclaimed wood.
I live in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Türkiye. I am 66 years old, retired, married, and the father of two daughters. For many years, I have been creating artworks at home, driven by a constant need to produce and transform materials.
The wood I use is collected from nature and forgotten places. I do not force these pieces into new shapes; instead, I respect their original form and bring them together through composition. Each fragment carries its own history, texture, and memory.
My ongoing collection, “Silent Witnesses,” focuses on time, memory, and human presence. When these wooden elements come together, they form quiet, human-like figures — observers rather than actors. I prefer simplicity, allowing space for the viewer’s own emotions and interpretations.
Imperfections, erosion, and traces of time are not hidden; they are essential to the identity of each work. Alongside wood, I also experiment with different materials, including styrofoam, as part of my ongoing exploration.
All my works are handmade and unique. None can be repeated.
